A tragic accident occurred over the weekend involving NFL Hall of Famer John Elway and his former agent and close friend, Jeff Sperbeck. The two were attending a private event at The Madison Club in La Quinta, California, following the Stagecoach music festival.
According to reports, Elway was driving a golf cart with Sperbeck riding on the back. At some point during the ride, Sperbeck fell from the cart, striking his head on the pavement. Emergency services were called immediately, and Sperbeck was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he remains on life support. Doctors have reportedly indicated that there is no hope for recovery.
Authorities responded quickly to the scene, and while the investigation is still ongoing, there is currently no indication of any wrongdoing or negligence on Elway’s part.
Jeff Sperbeck, 61, had a long and respected career as an NFL agent, representing over 100 professional athletes during his tenure. He also co-founded a wine label with Elway in 2018 and served as the CEO of his own talent agency. His impact on the sports industry, and the relationships he built within it, are being remembered as the news of his condition spreads.
